Two More Wins

The Yellowhead Chiefs faced a challenging week with three intense matchups, showcasing their resilience and determination on the ice.

The Chiefs battled hard against the Parkland Rangers, coming out on top with a 7-5 victory. Grady McNish and Nolan Kozak were pivotal with two goals each, supported by strong performances from the whole bench. Despite penalty troubles, the Chiefs capitalized on their power play opportunities, converting both chances to secure the win. Goaltender Cole Lelond made 30 saves in a dynamic performance.

 

 

At home against the Kenora Thistles, the Chiefs delivered a solid 5-2 victory. Alec Strachan two goals, supported by goals from Destin Knight, Oliver Nickel. and Nolan Kozak. The team showcased disciplined play, maintaining their lead despite penalty challenges. Goaltender Conner Rapley was outstanding, turning away 43 of 45 shots.

 

 

In a closely contested rematch against the Thistles, the Chiefs fell short with a 6-5 loss. Grady McNish, Alec Strachan and Winston Lepp contributed with points again, showcasing the team’s offensive firepower. Despite a late push, including goal from Nolan Kozak, the Chiefs couldn’t overcome Kenora’s power play effectiveness. Goaltender Conner Rapley made 34 saves in a resilient effort.

 

 

Looking ahead, the Chiefs have four games on the schedule. They begin on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, facing the league-leading Brandon Wheat Kings on the road. Returning home on Friday, they will host the Winnipeg Bruins before hitting the road again to play the Eastman Selects in Beausejour on Saturday and concluding the week against the Winnipeg Wild on Sunday afternoon at Hockey For All Centre.
