Friday: Game Postponed
The Chiefs were scheduled to open their weekend on Friday, December 19 against the Winnipeg Bruins, but that matchup was postponed due to weather. A new date has yet to be announced.
Saturday: Chiefs Fall to League-Leading Winnipeg Wild
On Saturday night in Winnipeg, the Chiefs ran into the league’s top-ranked Winnipeg Wild, who capitalized early and often in an 8–2 final at the Hockey For All Centre.

The Wild scored three times in the opening period and added two more in the second to take control of the game. Despite being outshot heavily, the Chiefs continued to compete and were rewarded in the third period with a pair of power-play goals.
Alec Strachan netted his 20th of the season midway through the third, finishing a setup from Grady McNish and Nolan Kozak, before Tyson Bridge added his third of the year later in the frame with help from Redden Richmond.

Goaltender Landon McGregor faced a busy night, stopping 37 of 45 shots, while the Chiefs’ power play went 2-for-7.
Sunday: Short-Handed Chiefs Push Eastman to the Limit
The Chiefs wrapped up their weekend Sunday afternoon in Steinbach and showed resilience in a hard-fought 5–4 loss to the Eastman Selects.
Yellowhead got off to a fast start, with Nolan Kozak opening the scoring just 38 seconds into the game, followed by Ethan Turchinski later in the first period. After Eastman tied it, the Chiefs reclaimed the lead in the second when Carter Brown scored his first of the season, assisted by Bridge and Winston Lepp.

In the third, Strachan struck again to give Yellowhead a 4–2 lead, but Eastman responded with three goals in just over a minute to swing the game back in their favour.
Once again, McGregor was outstanding under pressure, turning aside 52 of 57 shots as the Chiefs battled through a physically intense game that featured multiple misconducts.

Christmas Break and What’s Next
With the weekend complete, the Chiefs now head into their Christmas break sitting ninth in the U18 AAA standings at 13–17–0–0.
The team will return to action with a home stand on January 3 and 4, welcoming the Winnipeg Thrashers to Shoal Lake to open the second half of the season.
Chiefs fans can look forward to a fresh start in the new year as the group regathers, resets, and prepares for an important stretch run after the holidays.
