The Yellowhead Chiefs kicked off the 2025-2026 season with a home game against the Brandon Wheat Kings September 27, 2025.
The evening began with player introductions for the newly minted squad.
The game was a hard fought battle with Brandon ultimately coming out on top with a 3 – 2 win. Alec Strachan had two goals for the Chiefs and goal tender Sawyer Wallin had a strong game with 41 saves.
Saturday the Chiefs hosted the Southwest Cougars. The first half of the game the Chiefs battle hard but the Cougars pulled away in the second have securing a 9 – 2 win. The Cougars were 3/3 on the powerplay.
The Chiefs look to rebound this week with a rematch in Brandon October 1 and then two more home games October 3 and 5 with the Central Plains Capitals and Kenora Thistles travelling to Shoal Lake.
